In the future the 2013 Hamilton Airshow will be looked upon as one of the “Good Ol’ Days” just like the Hamilton International Airshows of the 1970s and 80s. While we may not have seen as many warbirds as in the past the line-up was impressive. |

The appearance of the Military Aircraft Museum’s Mosquito and Mosquito Memories Forum was by far the star of the event. Assembling a “ Merlin Flight” that has never been seen before took planning, co-operation and a little luck but in the end we saw the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s Lancaster lead 2 Spitfires, 2 Hurricanes and the Mosquito in an unprecidented formation. Along with the CWH, Vintage Wings of Canada and The Military Aircraft Museum are to be commended for the effort. |

Overshadowed somewhat by the Merlin Flight was the appearance of the Military Aircraft Museum’s FW-190 and Messerschmidt Me-262. Both first time performers to Hamilton and rare aircraft to see at any airshows. |

The air show was rounded out with a dazzling aerobatic performance by Matt Younkin in his Beech 18. The Royal Canadian Air Force was well represented with performances by the 2013 CF-18 Demonstration Team, The Snowbirds and CP-140 Aurora. Add several more acts to the line-up and we had one of Canada’s if not Canada’s best airshow of the year. |
