During Skyfest 2015, at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, Eric was offered to fly in the Vintage Wings of Canada’s Lysander during the flight of the Lysanders
VWoC’s Lysander is dedicated to Sergeant Clifton Stewart. A WWII Canadian spy from PEI.
VWoC pilot, Dave Hadfield, flew Eric in the group's Lysander painted as the National Steel Car’s first test Lysander built in Canada. The climb up to either cockpit is intricate.
Pulling the 870HP Bristol Mercury engine through nine blades.
CWH Lysander is positioned for engine start.
CWH ground crew plug in the external power cart for our engine start.
The gas tank separates the front and rear cockpit.
Lined up on 06 we are cleared for take-off.
After a short take-off roll we climb swiftly as we pass the CWH Mitchell.
CWH pilot, Rick Rickards with passenger David Woodcock form up on us as we head back over the museum for a photo-op.
We then head for the Lake Ontario shoreline for some A2A photography.
All too soon we head back to Hamilton Airport.
