Chipmunk CF-FHY is a DHC-1B-2 sn 80 118 built in 1949. The airframe never saw military service and was used as a company demonstrator into the early 60s until it was sold to Power Corp and used for pleasure flying. At that point it had less then 1000 flying hours. FHY had a Lycoming 0-320 engine installed at Aircraft Industries where it was offered to DND as a possible upgrade for the RCAF Chipmunk fleet. Power Corp chief of maintenance, Douglas Reagh Simpson, purchased FHY in the early 1970s and owned the airframe until 2015. It is now owned and flown by Brian Russell in Douglas Reagh Simpson’s memory. |

Chipmunk CF-JAG is a DHC-1B-2-S5 sn 189 227 and flew in the RCAF as 18051. Civilian owners have included John Mrazek and John Raymond before it was purchased in 1991 by famed deHavilland Canada test pilot George Neal. Viking Air purchased JAG in 2016 after George Neal passed away. It is seen here flown by Viking demonstration pilot Kevin Elwood. |
