In September 2011 the Canadian Air and Space Museum was forced to close their doors on their Downsview based facility. Since that time most of the museum has been packed in containers awaiting a new facility. Lancaster FM-104 was recently moved to a secure location for storage. The full-scale Avro Arrow replica remained in the closed museum building until the Society of Manufacturing Engineers showed interest in having the iconic Canadian built aircraft on display at the 2013 Canadian Manufacturing and Technology Show. |

On the evening of September 22nd, the Arrow was successfully moved from Downsview to Malton beside the airport where the original Arrows were built. With the help of Matcom Industrial Installations a special jig was made to transport the over-sized Arrow. Permits were granted and the move occurred late on a Sunday night to minimize traffic delays. After the trade show the Arrow replica will be placed in storage in a hangar at Toronto International Airport while the Museum searches for a proper facility to house the collection. |
