Thunder Over Michigan proved once again why it is one of North America’s
premier Airshows. Kevin Walsh, Mike Luther and all the volunteers at
Thunder Over Michigan assembled an incredible group of aircraft to
honour the 100th Anniversary of US Naval Aviation.

The appearance of the replica 1911 Curtiss-Ely Pusher, built by Bob Coolbaugh, was a terrific tribute to the beginning of U.S. Naval aviation. The replica resembles the aircraft that made the first carrier landing on the deck of the U.S. Navy’s USS Pennsylvania in the San Francisco Bay on 18 January 1911 that began the era of U.S. Naval aviation.

TOM boasted six Corsairs of various models on the ramp along with two
Mitsubishi A6M Zeros and a host of other World War Two aircraft such as a PBY Catalina,
Grumman FM-2 Wildcat, Vultee SNV-1 and Lockheed PV-2 Harpoon.

Many of the U.S. Navy's specially painted Century of Naval Aviation aircraft
were in attendance as well as two V-22 Ospreys. Vintage jets included Will Ward’s MiG-17 and Mig-21 as well as Warbird Heritage Foundation’s A-4B Skyhawk.

Both mornings a European Theatre of Operations ground battle featured strafing runs by three North American P-51 Mustangs.

Thunder Over Michigan offers a great time for everyone with lots of venders and displays that include a kid’s play park to Harley Davidson’s displays. For aviation enthusiasts TOM offers early morning photo passes, photo pits, grandstand seating, VIP seating, aerial lifts for unique views and more then ample general admission viewing crowd lines.
