The 2011 Great Lakes International Airshow held at St. Thomas airport offered airshow enthusiasts in the area an action packed event. The show, known for it’s military content did not disappoint. Canadian favorites like the Snowbirds, Skyhawks and CF-18 Demo were all present along with many static displays. A highlight for many was a ground battle with reinforcements arriving on a CH-146 Griffon.

A special salute to the 100th Anniversary of the United States Naval Aviation saw a flying display from the Commemorative Air Force’s SB2C Helldiver, US Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin, US Navy F-18 Super Hornet and F-5N. Along with assorted aircraft on static display such as a P-3 Orion and Goshawk trainers. From the United States Air Force we saw F-16s from Oklahoma and Vermont, A-10s from Maryland and a couple of C-130 Hercules transports.
